BASIC PRINCIPLE TO INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE IN OIL & GAS INDUSTRY
Internal combustion engines are yet another examples of energy transfer devices, used in the oil and gas industry. An internal combustion piston engine converts chemical energy to pressure energy by combustion of the fuel and a small fraction of the air (oxygen) mixed with the fuel. The pressure energy in turn does work on the pistons, which is transmitted to the engine output drive shaft.
